Indo-Dutch Indie-Dance supremo Budakid has been making waves across the world with his authentic, cinematic approach to making music, with incredible releases this last year such as Infinity, The Curse and Milestones. Following this rich vein of form, The ‘Kid brings you the truly seminal Lovin’ Sun, the inaugural single on his new label Flores, out 12th July.
On first listen to Lovin’ Sun, you will realise that this track is something very special, so draw back the curtains, open the window and let that lovin’ sunlight shine in, warming you to your bones. Dreamily delayed, distorted guitars create a broad, clear-blue-sky soundscape, complimented after four bars by an infectious, organic bassline taking you to the groove.
A catchy disco drumline joins the party with subtle synths layers building a cinematic nature, a classic feature of Budakid’s signature production style. By the time the ‘Kid’s sweet, sincere vocals kick in, you’re already hooked. “Love cannot fix this, time cannot tell. You got me running, Sun in my heart”. You haven’t heard a track quite like this before, yet there is something warm and comfortably familiar about Lovin’ Sun, like a jacket that feels right the first time you try it on - A contemporary classic.
Budakid tells us more: “Lovin' Sun is a song that I wrote and recorded in my new studio in the Alps. This track is a tribute to the sun - the light that keeps us all going. The DIY approach of this track is in line with my vision of life. This song epitomises my love for indie and club music, a mix that has inspired me in my musical direction.
Every plant needs a little loving sunshine to germinate, and new label Flores is no different, Lovin’ Sun being the first of many tracks carefully selected by Budakid to fit with his positive energy, which is something that hits you the very first time you meet him.
