Dina Summer presents Children Of The Night
Dina Summer’s Children Of The Night is less interested in genre purity than in atmosphere. Across nine tracks, the Berlin-based trio connect the dots between Italo disco, EBM, new wave, darkwave and the more decadent end of electroclash, creating something that feels deliberately out of time without becoming detached from the present.
The strongest moments come when the trio allow their pop sensibility to collide with their darker instincts. “Burning Heart” carries an unmistakable disco glow, while “Fuel” and “Komodo 3000” strip things back into more muscular, late-night territory. The title track lands somewhere between those poles, with a cinematic quality that suits the record’s Bela Lugosi reference.
“Rat Race” and “On The Road” provide a more guitar-minded, darkwave counterpoint and prevent the album from becoming too dependent on club formulas.
There’s a certain theatricality throughout, but it never feels accidental. Dina Summer have developed a distinct aesthetic where vintage synth language, underground dance music and sharp pop songwriting can coexist. Children Of The Night is the sound of a band fully embracing that identity.
