Escape’: Bratři’s Soundtrack to City Life and Nature’s Serenity

The long-awaited second album by the electronic duo Bratři (The Brothers), twins Ondřej and Jiří Veselý, is called Escape. Bratři invite you on an euphonic journey, oscillating between dance electronics and raw, meticulously crafted compositions. Their inspiration comes from the contrast between the busy energy of city life and the calm of nature. Escape is closely linked to their live shows and new set, which they performed this year at several European festivals, including Colours of Ostrava, Hungary's Sziget, and Spain's Cooltural Festival and others. The album is available on vinyl with eight tracks, while the digital release includes two additional songs. The album Escape offers listeners a well-thought-out musical concept that takes them on a sonic journey full of unexpected twists. "We try to draw inspiration from the contrasts between the hustle of city life and the calming effect of nature. We aim to reflect this diversity in our tracks, where synthesizer sounds and melodies blend with elements of sound design," explains Ondřej Veselý. The best examples of that are the new tracks “Gilda” and “II,” which demonstrate how Bratři play with textures and atmosphere, adding new dimensions to their production. Although the album is entirely self-produced by the band, the final mix was handled by renowned German producer and mixing engineer Hannes Bieger, who has been working with Bratři since 2020.It's been three years since their previous album Two Minds, and the path to the new release was paved with a series of successful singles, including Blocks and Neon. Bratři have also prepared new tracks that fans might already know from their new set. Jiří explains: “We aimed for a cohesive experience, so our tracks now span from techno to progressive techno, glitch, experimental techno, and IDM (Intelligent Dance Music). My brother and I believe we've seamlessly integrated these styles in ways we couldn't have imagined three years ago.” The album Escape is closely connected to their live performances, making it both a studio and a concert experience. Bratři's shows are known for their energy and the visual accompaniment of live VJs, which enhances the overall experience.
