Hernán Cattaneo & Verlk Remix Soda Stereo’s Iconic Rock Anthem “En la Ciudad de la Furia”

The extraordinary union between Hernán Cattaneo and Verlk brings us a memorable release full of emotion and history: the Remix of "En la Ciudad de la Furia", one of the most important rock songs in Spanish by the legendary Argentinian group Soda Stereo, in a powerful version by these talented innovators of sound and music.

Hernán Cattaneo tells us about this project:

"In the last few years, I have done some small electronic edits of Gustavo Cerati's songs to finish shows in Argentina and they all had a very good impact. At the same time, my friend Verlk and I had been talking for a while about making a remix of "En La Ciudad de la Furia" together, since it was one of our favorite Soda Stereo songs.

So, when my shows at Ciudad Universitaria in Buenos Aires (March 2023) were finally announced, the first thing we thought was that there was no better place to play that remix and we activated the project to be able to close Sunsetstrip Buenos Aires with our version. It was very exciting to experience that finale with Soda Stereo, the huge screens on fire from end to end and the audience full of surprise and excitement. With honor and pride, we are now able to publish it and share it with all of you."

Verlk continues:

"The first live show I attended was Soda Stereo’s official presentation of their album Dynamo at Obras Stadium, with a young Babasónicos as their opening act. To be part of an official remix of the band 30 years later is not only a great honor, but also an exciting convergence."

While preparing his next Sunsetstrip, which will undoubtedly be overwhelming again, Hernán Cattaneo premieres together with the multi-instrumentalist Verlk, the remix that crowned the closing of the last edition in Buenos Aires and provoked the ovation of a whole crowd, captivated by the glorious sound of this song that has reached unsurpassed levels of permanence and transcendence.

The Argentinian DJ confirmed the 4th edition of Sunsetstrip Buenos Aires, inviting you to live two unforgettable sunsets that will take place on March 2nd and 3rd at Ciudad Universitaria with a new surpassing proposal.

About Hernán Cattaneo

If ever there was an artist on the electronic music scene who needs no introduction, it has to be the man known to music lovers around the world simply as El Maestro. Throughout his rise to become the founding father of the underground house scene, the name Hernán Cattaneo has become synonymous with dedication, passion, and an unwavering commitment to championing a unique musical quality that is

hard to define, but instantly recognizable as his signature sound.

His effortless ability to rack up over 30 years as a DJ, 11 albums, 30 singles and 50 remixes is the legacy of a unique and powerful personal touch, which ensured that Hernán stood out from the start. He won 2 times the award for best DJ awarded by Dj Awards of Ibiza and was recognized as an illustrious citizen of the City of Buenos Aires by the Buenos Aires legislature.

During his first DJ residency at Buenos Aires' legendary Clubland, it was Hernán's winning combination of humble professionalism, primal passion for music and deep dedication to dancefloor lovers that allowed him to make his mark as a warmup DJ for some of the biggest names in electronic music. And it was his friendship with those names, including Paul Oakenfold, John Digweed and Sasha, that set him on the path to stardom.

Within a few years of embarking on an international DJ career, Hernán became the first South American resident of the global brand Cream; won residencies at Cream in Ibiza and Liverpool and Pacha in Buenos Aires and Ibiza; and went on to appear in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll ten years in a row.

The quality of his productions was soon requested by the biggest electronic music labels, including Bedrock, Perfecto, Renaissance and Balance. As his worldwide career grew, so did his legions of fans, and word spread around the world about the man whose legendary nightly sets had the power to set your feet on fire and make your soul sing. Long established as a hot ticket in any city, Hernán's legendary late-night sets have seen him conquer every corner of the globe. From Warung Brazil, Yellow in Tokyo and Avalon in Los Angeles to Stereo Montreal, Burning Man and the Ministry of Sound in London.

But beyond his own achievements and accolades, there are much deeper motivations that drive the man who has become one of Argentina's most prized musical exports. As one of the few rare performers to make it to the top, he works tirelessly to give back to the scene that supported him on his way up.

Rightly recognized for his constant advocacy for emerging artists and labels, he has been applauded for both highlighting the talent of the next generation and his own skills. Through his DJ sets, his own label Sudbeat and his world-famous weekly radio show Resident, he constantly connects a global community and provides an essential platform that allows new stars to shine. And while his own star continues to rise, perhaps Hernán's greatest passion lies in empowering others to enjoy the world's best house music and shaping the future of that music for generations to come.

About Verlk:

Born in Argentina and based on the West Coast of the United States, Verlk is a multi-instrumentalist from an early age whose style of house and techno is inspired by the wide range of rock music and its multiple subgenres.

With original releases in compilations curated by John Digweed (Bedrock), Nick Warren (The Soundgarden) and Hernan Cattaneo (Balance Series), his letter of introduction to the world came with a bootleg remix of The Cure's classic "At Night". Turning this introspective anthem into a powerful track cut, he received support from multiple international artists such as Solomun, Tale of Us, &ME, and many others.

This repeated support captured the attention of Universal Music, which authorized the official release of their remix of "Himno de mi Corazón," an original song by one of the founding bands of Argentine rock, Los Abuelos de la Nada. Released by the iconic German label Get Physical Music, the remix quickly climbed the charts (Beatport organic house top 10) and was played on big stages by DJ Koze, Bedouin, Blondish and Keinemusik. This remix was followed by original tracks included on top-notch compilations such as Hernán Cattaneo's Cercle livestream, Jimi Jules' BBC Essential Mix, and a single on the legendary British label Renaissance Records, in collaboration with Grammy-winning vocalist Steve Smith and Santiago Garcia.

As a resident of one of California's most important production companies, SET Underground, he shared the booth with artists such as Dixon, Ame, DJ Tennis, consolidating his position as one of the most trusted DJs in the region.
