The Miami-based producer couple have brought their flair for spicy sounds and tropical tones to the fore with 'Stay Fresh'. A bouncy, percussion-filled offering suitable for any sun-soaked dance floor or speakeasy nightclub, "Stay Fresh" beats with its sparkling rhythms and bouncy vocals. Dipzy and Chris Clark have created a sensational home heater and a welcome addition to the Dirtybird catalog with 'Stay Fresh'.
House producer and multi-instrumentalist Dipzy has embraced music since he was five years old, mastering the timbales, congas and drums at a young age thanks to his Miami upbringing and his Cuban heritage. His first big release, 'Wobble Like', was via Dirtybird and he has since appeared on labels such as This Ain't Bristol and Parasoul. Dipzy has earned the support of top underground house artists like Shiba San, Green Velvet, Solardo, Rebuke, Kyle Watson, CID, Noizu, Treasure Fingers, Steve Darko, Lucati and more.
Chris Clark was born and raised in Miami, Florida and still calls it home today. Touring and producing has been his passion since his college years, where he majored in the music business before becoming a radio DJ at Revolution 93.5. His debut song 'Disco Shit' appeared on Traxsource in its first week of release and remains one of his most popular songs to this day. Emphasizing the afro house and tech house sounds of Miami, Clark founded his own record label, Lost Minds Records.
We have had the pleasure of interviewing Dipzy and this has been the result.
Can you tell us a little about your experience? Where are you from / how did you get into music?
A: I was born and raised in South Florida, bouncing between Miami Dade and Broward county, been doing music since as long as I can remember, playing latin timbale drums at church with my family at the age of 4, I then began to take some formal lessons on drums from age 5 - 13, took on guitar and bass and just became obsessed with learning every instrument I could get into!
How is your sound evolving? What artists and genres do you enjoy mixing right now?
A: Definitely getting into my “deeper” phase rn with mixing alot of funk and soulful elements into my beats, using a ton of real instruments like bass and guitar in my productions, I have always loved deep house, but the energy of tech house also has my heart, so its been a matter now of figuring out my own unique way of blending vibes. Loving artists like Moon Boots, Opolopo, but also finding so much of myself in the Tech world with Dj’s like Darrius syrossian, Toman, and Dj Fronter
How do you feel that your music influences or impacts your listeners?
A: I'm praying it impacts them in the same way music I love impacts me, I want them to feel lifted from the burdens of life, and exist within the music as much as humanly possible. Hoping to inspire others to make what they truly want.
What projects are you working on right now? What can you tell us about your last job?
A: Currently working on a few different things, ranging from Ravey disco, to bouncy latin, deep House vibes colliding with minimal latin tech grooves! You dont want to hear about my Day Job, i promise that lol!!
Where are you and what have you been doing now?
A: Currently living in Broward county, but moving back to Miami in a few weeks, honestly just grinding and surviving the inflating economy down here.
Do you feel safe now to play a more experimental sound?
A: I definitely feel I'm at a point that I can try anything out on the dance floor, at this point if you are showing up for the ride, be prepared for any wild turn.
We all know that the digital revolution has affected sales, but has it affected creativity?
A: Not at all, in fact technology these days has made it so intuitive to achieve what the imagination presents us with
Can you tell us what your present and future projects are?
A: too many to count haha, always have plenty of seeds planted, but expect to hear a lot more of my take on House, as well as other electronic genre’s ive yet to explore, going to see a lot of music coming from me
