With his second album, Mike Opani delves into the cultural heritage of his father and therefore also dedicates himself to the history of his hometown, Naples. The inspiring splendor of this city, founded by the Greeks as Neapolis (New City) and later expanded by the Romans, forms the basis of his new work. "Charon" witnesses the unique influence of these two great civilizations. Mike Opani's fascination with Greek and Roman mythology unfolds in all its glory and results in a passionate engagement with these rich cultural traditions. With "Charon" he has created a remarkable work of art. It is a musical melting pot that impressively displays the diversity and fascination with its historical roots. With two programs you can listen to him on Evosonic Radio for a long time. It's good that he is now also represented on Evosonic Records with his second album.
We have had the pleasure of interviewing the producer and this has been the result.
How would you present your work to someone who doesn't know you? I would be happy if i can get the people´s attention and time to listen to my music. Time is the most valuable component and if someone listens to music in this case of mine, that's great and I am extremely thankfull for it. And your last job? Where is it born from? And where do you want to lead? I was a freelance artist for almost 20 years but after this time I decided to switch back to my old professional field (I work in the health sector and manage a department). This allows me to allow myself to play a lot fewer gigs, I'm not someone who needs 5 gigs on the weekend. I think the energy suffers extremely as a result. And at my age, energy management is extremely important. And funny enough, my output has increased dramatically by my standards. Which is a really great side effect for me. This helped me a lot to grow. What message would you like to convey to the public? As an artist I mainly want to share emotions or/and help people to dance themselves into a state of trance. How did your last project come about? I always wanted to do a concept album because I admire concept albums. One of my favorite concept albums is X-102-Discovers the Rings of Saturn. What do you want to transmit in this work? What is the concept behind it? I wanted to transfer the energy and atmosphere of the Greek/Roman mythology into sound and create the feelings connected to it. For example with "Tartaros" which is a dark place in the Greek underworld. I think with "Tartaros" this has definitely succeeded… As for your studio, what is it currently made up of? I had a Mackie 32-8 Buss mixer and various analog synths, 909, minimoog, etc. Then I switchd to digital production. Nowadays I often produce hybrid but also purely digital and always try to have the analogue sound. not too clean as can be heard in many productions today. I like it dirty ha, ha. What is the one instrument you would never get rid of, no matter what I unfortunately sold my first synth a Roland JUPITER 4. Since this time my “Synthesizerheart” is broken and i have no more emotions about hardwarsynthesizers. What was the last record store you visited? And what did you salvage from there? The last record store was my own and I took a lot of records with me when I closed it. Do you have hope for the future of music? How would you like the future of the music industry to be? I hope for more original techno again. Less uptempo. Tempo reduction and especially no fake producer DJs who have their tracks made by ghostproducers. Can you reveal some future projects? Next year there will be the tour and remixes for the album for which we are currently selecting remix artists. What makes you happy? Kindness and funny things That bothers you? Ignorance
