Justus reworks DJ Hyperactive's 90s classic with 'Open Wide' on MADHOUSE

Dutch DJ and producer extraordinaire Justus brings you his incredible new single Open Wide available from Friday 2nd October on Layton Giordani’s seminal label MADMINDS. A reworking DJ Hyperactive's '90s techno staple Wide Open, Justus builds on the stripped-back, hypnotic feel of the original with added weight and a fuller sound.
Amsterdam-born producer and DJ Justus has built a name for himself through collaborations with Kaskade and Armin van Buuren, an official remix for David Guetta & Sia, and a remix of Benny Benassi’s “Satisfaction.” Pushing the boundaries of techno and house, he has earned support from artists including Diplo, Gordo, Calvin Harris, MK, Adam Beyer, and Swedish House Mafia, while also running his own imprint, Just Records.
Hyperactive needs little introduction to those versed in the history of techno: a cornerstone of the Chicago underground since the early '90s and one of Daft Punk's "Teachers," with his contributions to the scene spanning generations across 100+ releases and 30 years of headline sets at Berghain, Tresor, Movement Detroit, and more. Together, they bring three decades of techno history to the floor.
Open Wide is a huge, peak-time techno cut. Press play and the driving momentum transports you straight to the dancefloor. The huge soundscape belongs in a big space, thousands of bodies writhing to the beat, the rolling groove grabs you by the hands and makes you dance. The synths, like an industrial church organ in a turbine hall control your spine and make you move. The only question is how you can follow on afterwards from this behemoth. Youll be amazed if you hear any other techno as good as this in 2026.
Justus tells us more: ‘I’ve always loved the original Wide Open and the other versions that has been made. It’s one of those records that has such a simple but timeless energy to it, and I’d had the idea of doing something with it for a while as I wanted to make a version that I could play in my sets. So I started playing around with it and ended up taking it into a more techno house direction that fits great with what I’m playing in my sets right now.
I wanted to keep the character and rawness of the original while giving it my own take. I’ve been playing it out for a while now and the reactions have been.
