There’s a clarity of vision running through Icedancer EP, one that places Kay Chi and Sharlese firmly within a contemporary Italo-informed framework while allowing room for deviation.
The lead track stands out through its restraint. Rolling toms and sharp claps form a controlled rhythmic engine, while the melodic hook introduces just enough emotional friction to sustain attention. It never collapses into excess.
The Freudenthal and Saeuer remix shifts the emphasis toward classic house tropes, introducing piano lines that elevate the track into something more openly expressive. Their approach expands the EP’s emotional spectrum without disrupting its coherence.
By the time “Makes Me Feel Special” arrives, the tone has shifted toward something more internalised. Its darker synth work offers a fitting counterbalance to the EP’s more extroverted moments.
