Labasheeda presents Blueprints

Blueprints is the new album from idiosyncratic Amsterdam rock trio Labasheeda.

Since 2004, the band has released several albums and EPs and performed extensively on stages at home and abroad. The unorthodox use of the violin, the often deviating time signatures, and Saskia van der Giessen's distinctive voice give the band its unique sound.

On Blueprints, that sound is expanded further with the addition of marimba, cello, and double bass.

The songs that are recorded on this album demonstrate the particular way of understanding Labasheeda's sound, located at the opposite end of what is commercial, what is generic, what works: what he does is, on the contrary, a kind of unstable magma of pulsations and glows, of melodic strokes and blurred textures, pursuing a serene, spiritual, almost ascetic expression. All those languages and influences from which it was nourished dialogue on this album, creating new, different and highly evolved sound organisms.

The idea that drives this album refers us to one of the crucial attributes of music, and that is its inexhaustible capacity to generate moods that protect us at all times.
