Munich two-piece KIDSØ's celestial piece of organic electronica ‘Ylva’ out on 15 November via Embassy One

Actualizado: hace 3 días

Following a slice of glacial electronica ‘Melting’ featuring the talented Polish singer HelaineViz, the Munich two-piece KIDSØ (Moritz Grassinger and Martin Schneider) share their next single ‘Ylva’ (a girl’s name meaning ‘female wolf’ in Swedish), out on 15 November via Embassy One. Drenched deep in melancholy and heavily invested in the late-Noughties ambient-leaning variety of future garage that brings Fred Again, Moderat, and Jon Hopkins to mind, ‘Ylda’ is a rhythmically dynamic, melodically intricate organic electronica.

Dominated by the skittering 2-step kick synched with offbeat tom-triplets, and the legato Reese-style bass sliding underneath the chords, Grassinger and Schneider take the track to the next level with a riveting use celestial choir of female voices slowly rising from the earthy depths of the low end, accompanied by a piano, towards the radiant heights of the upper register. Paradoxically enough, the end result is as calming as it’s rapturous – and moving in more ways than one.

According to KIDSØ, deliberation over their musical DNA was crystallised by ‘Ylva’:

“Ylva is the result of questioning ourselves what KIDSØ really is - what sound do we stand for? We spend many days reflecting on the songs we started with in 2018 like ‘Silent’, ‘Nordstar’ or ‘Apart’. All of them had one thing in common: They sound super fragile and melancholic. Bringing back memories of trips to Scandinavia almost 10 years ago. We wanted to bring back those memories to upcoming songs and started to work on ‘Ylva’ a few months ago. And it ended up with such a cold and melancholic vibe we were looking for. Excited to have this track dropping next on Embassy One.”

Following the single release, KIDSØ will be embark on a tour in Germany and Turkey with the following dates confirmed:

Munich, Germany (16 November 2024)

Eskisehir, Turkey (21 November 2024)

Ankara, Turkey (22 November 2024)

Istanbul, Turkey (23 November 2024)

Karlsruhe, Germany (14 March 2025)

Munich, Germany (3 April 2025)

About KIDSØ

KIDSØ is an electronic music duo hailing from the southern region of Germany. Formed 2017 in Munich by Moritz Grassinger and Martin Schneider, the band has since been delivering a unique blend of rhythmic, melodic, and experimental electronic music with the touch of the north.

In 2018, KIDSØ released their debut album, "Apart", to critical acclaim, establishing themselves as one of the exciting new acts in electronic music. The album showcased their signature sound, which is characterised by a seamless blend of various styles and organic elements, including vocal samples, atmospheric soundscapes, and infectious rhythms. The release of "Apart" was followed by a string of successful live performances, which took KIDSØ from Amsterdam and Poland to various festivals and club shows around Germany.

After their successful collaboration with Natascha Polké on their last release, KIDSØ are now back with a new sound that is even more electronic and more driving than their previous songs they showed on the debut album “Fir” in 2022.

In addition to their exciting new music, KIDSØ has recently signed with the record label Embassy One, home to world-renowned artists such as Monolink and Moby. This partnership marks a significant milestone for the band.

As KIDSØ continues their tour across Europe, fans can experience a unique live performance with lots of live instruments like drums, guitar, and several synthesisers. The band's shows are characterised by live improvisation, infectious rhythms, and captivating visuals, creating an immersive experience.
