RULES RETURNS ALONGSIDE MAVERICK SABRE WITH UPLIFTING NEW SINGLE 'STAY NOW'
Born out of studio sessions in London, Rules team ups with long-time influence Maverick Sabre, capturing end-of-summer nostalgia through a natural creative connection
UK-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Rules returns on 24th September with his latest single ‘Stay Now’, featuring acclaimed Irish vocalist Maverick Sabre.
Following the release of his debut EP As Soon As I Get Home earlier this year, 'Stay Now' sees Rules lean into his signature expansive, uplifting production alongside Sabre's instantly recognisable soulful timbre — with Grammy-winning Paul Harris (collaborations include Elderbrook, Gorgon City, Tïesto) on the writing credits. It's a combination that lends itself perfectly to a release built for reminiscing on golden, sun-soaked moments.
"’Stay Now’ came from a couple of studio sessions with Maverick Sabre in London earlier this year. Mav's been a huge influence on me for a long time, so getting in a room together and making something that felt really natural was pretty special”, Rules explains.
On the single he continues: "The track has a lot of emotion to it, featuring some real soulful sections from Mav, upright piano and classic string samples. Having these real and warm organic elements running throughout was really important, while keeping this uplifting and hopeful feeling and a constant rolling energy. There's something really nostalgic about it."
'Stay Now' lands during a defining chapter for Rules. Following the release of his debut EP, As Soon As I Get Home, a six-track project blending live instrumentation with electronic production which has since amassed over 82 million streams. Rules continues his mission to redefine the emotional edge of dance music, having earned underground acclaim through collaborations with the likes of Diplo, Elderbook, Gregory Porter, Clementine Douglas, and Poppy Baskcomb. With 'Stay Now', Rules further cements his reputation as a skilled collaborator known for translating introspective recordings into powerful productions made for packed dancefloors and solo listening sessions alike.
Joining Rules on the track is Maverick Sabre, the Irish singer, songwriter and producer known for his emotionally charged writing and unmistakable voice. His catalogue spans Top 10 debut Lonely Are the Brave through to last year’s Burn the Right Things Down. A sought-after collaborator beyond his solo work, Maverick Sabre has lent his unmistakable voice to highly acclaimed acts including Jorja Smith, Olivia Dean, Celeste and Rudimental among others, amassing over a billion streams worldwide.
