Record Sounds Like: The A-side harkens back to 90s electronica whilst the B-side takes a sharp left turn with its improvisational jazz influences
Slow Assembly (the alternate outlet for Jan Warner / Future Self's off-label creations) returns with a second head-turner. After their well-loved first record "Slow Burn / Sunrise Acid" earlier in 2023, the artist releases "In A Different Time." With an A-side that has an almost Balearic feel to it, it merges a catchy but relaxed acid bass reminiscent of a certain '90s aesthetic with arpeggiated melodic goodness.
"High Voltage" on the flip certainly turns things up. Musically complex and dancefloor-oriented, it has a touch of big beat energy with a classy finish. Slow Assembly continues to evolve into an exciting new outlet for Jan Warner, taking his sound into new areas with the same artistic brilliance.
